Alice Hawkins Thompson, age 80, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016.

A native of Halifax County, she was born on September 25, 1936 to the late Jim Davis and Carrie Daisy Hawkins. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Edward Thompson; by her brothers Davis Hawkins, Van Hawkins, Hubert Hawkins and John Hawkins; her sisters, Maybell Hawkins, Bessie Shaw, Clyde Hawkins and Nellie Byerly.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Connie C. Rook and her husband, Gene, of Roanoke Rapids; her granddaughter, Stefanie Long and her husband, Calvin, of Roanoke Rapids; and her great-granddaughter, Emzlie Long, of Roanoke Rapids.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:30 P.M. at the Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Henry Stephens officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services of Roanoke Rapids, and other times at 225 Walter Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC.
